Verify the institution and programme
For online and ODL programmes, check the current UGC-DEB recognition or entitlement and the exact programme on the official DEB information.

Prepare a document folder
Keep marksheets, certificates, identity proof, photographs, category documents and any programme-specific documents ready in the required format.
04 • Fees
Understand the complete fee
Ask for tuition, examination, application, registration, study-material, hostel or other applicable charges rather than relying on a single headline number.

Check how learning works
For online or ODL study, understand classes, LMS access, assignments, examinations, practical components and attendance requirements.
06 • Career
Check progression and support
Review curriculum, internships, career services, placement support, alumni resources and further-study pathways. Do not treat marketing claims as guarantees.
For online / ODL applicants
Check DEB-ID and ABC-ID requirements
The UGC Distance Education Bureau currently states that learners seeking admission to ODL/Online programmes must create a DEB-ID using an ABC-ID. Always use the current official DEB instructions.
