How to Verify University Recognition and Programme Status in India

Learn how to verify university recognition, programme status, delivery mode and current admission information before enrolling.

Why verification matters

University recognition, programme eligibility and delivery-mode permissions can differ. A university may have multiple programmes with different rules, so a general claim on a brochure is not enough.

Use official sources

Start with the university website and the relevant regulator or official government source. Record the exact programme name, academic session, mode of study and any restrictions that apply.

Check the admission notice

The current admission notice should explain eligibility, application dates, fees, required documents and any entrance-test or identity requirements. Compare that information with what a counsellor tells you.

Keep a verification snapshot

Save a PDF or screenshot of the relevant official page with the date you checked it. This is useful if the page changes before your application is completed.
